The majority of Nigeria's cashew is harvested by women — working long hours on small plots of land across Kogi, Oyo, Enugu, Kwara, Niger and other states. Yet when it's time to sell, most have no alternative but to sell to middlemen at whatever price is offered.
There is no price transparency. No guaranteed offtake. No training on how to improve quality and therefore earn more. No connection to international buyers who would pay significantly more for the same cashew, properly graded.
CashewHer Nigeria is working to change this — starting with honest conversations with farmers and building the infrastructure to connect them to better markets.
We are building — not pretending. Here is what we commit to as our farmer network grows.
Our goal is to pay farmers prices that are transparent, fair and linked to quality — not arbitrary prices set by intermediaries with no accountability.
We plan to offer farmers practical training on post-harvest handling, grading standards, drying techniques and quality improvement — the knowledge that increases the value of what they grow.
By connecting farmer supply to our processing and buyer network, we create an alternative to the middleman system — one where more of the final product price reaches the farmer.
CashewHer Nigeria was founded by a woman and is building for women. Women farmers will always be our first priority in sourcing, training and support programmes.
We are building toward a fully traceable supply chain — where every bag of cashew can be traced to the specific farm and farmer who grew it. This is our goal, not our current capability.
We are not interested in one-off transactions. We want long-term farmer relationships built on trust, consistency and shared growth as CashewHer Nigeria scales.
Nigeria's cashew production is concentrated across several key states in the North-Central, South-West and South-East regions. CashewHer Nigeria is focusing its initial farmer sourcing network across these areas.
Whether you are a farmer, a farmer cooperative, an agricultural extension officer, or someone with connections to Nigeria's cashew farming community — we want to hear from you. We are early-stage and building together.
